چکیده

Objectives: To determine intraand inter-observer reproducibility of the ultrasound measurement of pelvic inlet in the first trimester of pregnancy. Methods: Transabdominal pelvic ultrasound was performed to measure the pelvic inlet anteroposterior diameter using a 2D probe in twelve Chinese women having a singleton pregnancy. Scans were performed in the first trimester by three sonographers. The pelvic inlet anteroposterior diameter was defined as the distance between the anterior surfaces of the sacral promontory and the superior medial border of the pubic bone most adjacent to the pubic symphysis. Intra-observer repeatability was determined and analysis of variance was performed to assess inter-observer measurements. The bias between any two sonographers’ measurements was assessed by calculating the 95% confidence interval for the mean difference between sonographers paired measurements. Results: Intra-observer reproducibility was 0.71 cm. Analysis of variance indicated that there was no significant difference between sonographers’ measurements (p = 0.46). The bias between two sonographers’ measurements ranged from 0.05 to 0.32 cm. Conclusion: It is technically feasible to measure the pelvic inlet diameter using ultrasound (USG) at the first trimester. High inter-observer reproducibility can be achieved. Further studies are required to establish the potential role of this technique and the measurement of the pelvic inlet diameter in prediction of labor outcome.

Comparison of Double and Single Leg Weight-Bearing Radiography in Determining Knee Alignment

Background: Knee malalignment is an important modifiable cause of osteoarthritis (OA). Surgical therapeutic procedures depend on proper knee alignment assessment. The purpose of this study was to compare knee alignment parameters between double and single leg weight-bearing radiographs and to evaluate the reproducibility of inter- and intra-observer measurements. Methods: One hundred eight p...

Reproducibility and accuracy of optic nerve sheath diameter assessment using ultrasound compared to magnetic resonance imaging

BACKGROUND Quantification of the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) by transbulbar sonography is a promising non-invasive technique for the detection of altered intracranial pressure. In order to establish this method as follow-up tool in diseases with intracranial hyper- or hypotension scan-rescan reproducibility and accuracy need to be systematically investigated. METHODS The right ONSD of ...

Intraobserver and interobserver reproducibility of three-dimensional gray-scale and power Doppler ultrasound examinations of the cervix in pregnant women.

OBJECTIVES To determine intraobserver and interobserver reproducibility of three-dimensional (3D) gray-scale and power Doppler ultrasound examinations of the cervix in pregnant women. METHODS Thirty-two pregnant women underwent transvaginal 3D gray-scale and power Doppler ultrasound examination of the cervix by two examiners. Each observer acquired two volumes, and they each analyzed their vo...

OBJECTIVE To assess intraobserver and interobserver variability in ovarian volume and gray-scale and color flow index measurements using transvaginal, three-dimensional, power Doppler ultrasonography. METHODS Eleven women (22 ovaries) were examined on day 8 of controlled ovarian hyperstimulation therapy, which was part of their in vitro fertilization treatment protocol. The patients were exam...
